Users at Port of Antwerp Bruges can now chat with their data!
Together with partner Superlinear, the data team at Port of Antwerp Bruges have created a way to put actionable data into the hands of employees in a way that really makes sense.
No need to have advanced SQL knowledge, users now just ask their questions in a Microsoft Teams chat, and APICA replies. This means business users can focus on better and faster decision-making, rather than having to wrestle through time-consuming data preparation first.
“This integration simplifies the process of asking complex questions regarding port operations, saving analysts several hours or even days of work,” said Inge Lemmens, Team Lead Data Governance.
To ensure the accurate retrieval of key information, dScribe was a key puzzle piece. The team teams at Port of Antwerp Bruges documented and linked almost 1 500 business definitions in dScribe, building a powerful bridge between data and business language. dScribe’s collaborative glossary and open API capabilities were crucial enablers for this.
Below is an example of an employee asking a question in plain language and getting an instant human-language response. Notice how APICA includes the necessary underlying explanation, to foster data transparency and build trust:

“The creation of definitions for business terms, along with their interrelationships in dScribe, is vital to the success of our ‘Chat with your data’ AI copilot, allowing us to deliver highly accurate, actionable insights to our business partners."
